ME2 Review

The original Mass Effect, released in late 2007, offered a uniquely fun experience for all types of gamers. Set in the near future, the game follows the story of Commander Shepard and his/her adventures in saving the Milky Way galaxy. Mass Effect was escapism at its best; the immersive science fiction story and setting, coupled with some of the deepest characterization seen in a video game with fast paced action, fused together to create the ultimate role playing game.

When a number becomes a story: John Awander

Happy endings aren’t just for the movies. This was the case with former Jamestown College groundskeeper and Iraqi veteran John Awander. This is a story of struggle, valor, and inspiration.

It all started in 2007 on an Iraq tour when Awander said he fell down. At first it didn’t bother him, but he later found out from his doctors that he had a compressed disk in his lower back, handicapping his ability to walk and even work. The doctors said it was a result of his military service.

Megan Burch: Alive and well

You might know Megan Burch. Megan is a freshman here at Jamestown College. She graduated from Our Redeemer’s Christian School in Minot and is currently majoring in music. Something that you may not know about Megan is that she is very lucky to be alive.

Sherlock Holms Review

“It’s elementary, my dear Watson!” Most of us have read (or at least heard) this catchphrase of Sherlock Holmes, the ingenious detective from the 19th century. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle brought him to life in 1887 in his novel, A Study in Scarlet, and he has been in a few other novels and almost sixty short stories ever since.

New Year's Resolutions

One of the most popular traditions to start out the year is to make a New Year’s resolution. In fact, according to “Adweek” and the Marist Poll, 48 percent of Americans make a resolution every year. And as everyone knows only about 46 percent of those resolutions will last halfway through the year, based on a recent study by the University of Scranton, Penn. Despite the fact that most people who make New Year’s resolutions will fail to keep them, people still make them. Here are the top four, according to “Adweek.”

Video Game Records

In Kroeze Hall, lives a hard-working man whose spare time is occupied with conquering the vast lands of videogames; this man is none other than Cole Eklund. Most of you probably know that he’s the editor in chief of the Collegian, but what you might not know is that he is the probably the most accomplished videogame player on the Jamestown College campus. From earning the Mega Marathon Man achievement in Mega Man 9, to earning 48,010 points in Team Fortress 2, Eklund has been there and done in the world of videogames.

JC head of security replaced

Jamestown College’s head of security Bryan Nagel was replaced over the weekend. The college’s vice president Tom Heck said he had no comment on the reason Nagel was replaced. Nagel also had no comment.
Dick Knapp will replace Nagel. Knapp has worked the weekend shift for close to a year and is a retired game warden. Heck said Knapp has more training in security than anyone the college has ever hired for the position, including former head of security Mike Lucht.
Heck said the college has hired a backup security guard for Knapp and is looking at hiring one more.
